SUMMARY:The Synergistic Role of CBCT and 2D Imaging in Pathology Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: A Case-Based Review
DESCRIPTION:This course is an overview of the typical anatomical structures visualized in a Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scan; it also covers variations of normal anatomy and the pathological processes that appear in a 3D scan. Radiographic presentation of significant pathologies\, including malignancies with clinical cases\, is discussed. A comprehensive discussion on soft tissue calcifications that may be seen in a CBCT scan and strategies to diagnose them radiographically is provided. Learning Objectives: Through reviewing clinical cases become familiar with radiographic signs of important pathologies in CBCT images. Be able to recognize the cases where CBCT can add diagnostic value to accurate diagnosis of the case (Selection criteria). Be able to describe common radiographic findings associated with different jaw pathosis including cystic\, neoplastic\, fibro-osseous\, and more. Be able to diagnose common soft tissue radiopacities in 2D and 3D images.

Informing the patient of all treatment that is needed to maximize their smile potential prior to initiating bleaching will result in a more satisfied patient with more realistic expectations. \n\n\n\nObjectives: The participant will learn…1. Recognizing the signs of occlusal trauma on the teeth and restorations allows the dentist to minimize the effects and avoid restoration failures. Treatment can consist of an occlusal adjustment of the teeth\, or a bruxism splint to protect both the teeth and restorative care. \n\n\n\nObjectives:1.Identify signs of occlusal disease on teeth and restorations\, and determine appropriate treatment possibilities from a splint to an occlusal adjustment2.Determine a predictable simple method for mounting casts to fabricate a maxillary occlusal bruxism splint that is easy to fit and adjust.3.Learn the sequential technique for an occlusal adjustment to create a mutually- protected dental occlusion following basic guidelines.
