He joined the faculty as a lecturer in 2012 and also had a practice limited to Orofacial Pain. He is involved with the American Academy of Orofacial Pain and the American Board of Orofacial Pain. His interest is to promote Orofacial Pain education to healthcare providers and students as well as the integration of Orofacial Pain education into dental education curricula.

DESCRIPTION:OSHA / Infection Control with Eiman Rahnama: In the United States\, the government agency responsible for worker safety is the Occupational Safety and Health Administration otherwise known as OSHA. \n\n\n\nOSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens standard is a federal OSHA regulation (29 CFR 1910.1030) that prescribes safeguards to protect staff against health hazards from exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials and to reduce their risk from this exposure. In some states\, it has been mandated that all Medical and Dental Staff do Aerosol Transmitted Diseases (ATD) training once a year to prevent the spread of ATDs. \n\n\n\nCDPA with Levi Barlavi: This course will satisfy the Category I Course requirement for the California Dental Practice Act. Upon completion of this course\, the attendee will have a comprehensive understanding of the laws of the Dental Practice Act. The course will review the laws of the Dental Practice Act and will review the numerous dental board cases applying such laws. The review of the laws and the cases shall give the attendee a better understanding of how the laws of the Dental Practice Act and their individual actions can impact their ability to practice dentistry in the state of California. SUMMARY:Harassment Prevention Training for Employers and Employees
DESCRIPTION:California law requires that employers with 5 employees or more\, receive training on sexual harassment and abusive conduct in the workplace. The purpose of the course is to educate and remind employees and employers how to identify\, remediate and prevent unlawful sexual harassment and abusive conduct. \n\n\n\nThe course shall also discuss remedies available to sexual harassment victims. In order to determine if this training is mandatory for your office\, calculate the full-time employees\, part-time employees\, temps\, doctors\, employees on a leave of absence and any other individual who is regularly paid through payroll\, (e.g.\, children\, cleaning personnel\, etc.). \n\n\n\nEmployees are to receive the training within six months of hire or promotion\, (from non-supervisory position to supervisory position)\, and must undergo the same training every two (2) years thereafter. Temporary employees must receive the training within 30 calendar days or 100 hours worked\, whichever occurs first. This is a two-hour training; both supervisory and non-supervisory staff shall attend the first hour and only supervisory staff are required to attend the second hour.

However\, let us not forget that Cal/OSHA has annual training requirements for personnel who work in an environment that have a risk of occupational exposure to blood- borne pathogens and/or hazardous chemicals. Cal/OSHA requires all dental professionals to take an annual course in blood-borne pathogen training\, plus an annual hazard communication training program. The program offers 6 hours/6 C.E. of up-to-date information in an interactive\, streamlined presentation. The course satisfies requirements for license renewal and for Cal/OSHA regulations. Qualifies for C.E. Credit – Core Course. \n\n\n\nLeslie Canham\, CDA\, RDA\, is a nationally recognized speaker and consultant specializing in infection control\, OSHA compliance\, Dental Practice Act and HIPAA regulations. Her programs are highly interactive with audience participation to educate and entertain. In the dental field since 1972\, Ms. Canham’s experience and expertise helps dental professionals reduce risks and comply with regulations. DESCRIPTION:This course is an overview of the typical anatomical structures visualized in a Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scan; it also covers variations of normal anatomy and the pathological processes that appear in a 3D scan. Radiographic presentation of significant pathologies\, including malignancies with clinical cases\, is discussed. A comprehensive discussion on soft tissue calcifications that may be seen in a CBCT scan and strategies to diagnose them radiographically is provided. Learning Objectives: Through reviewing clinical cases become familiar with radiographic signs of important pathologies in CBCT images. Be able to recognize the cases where CBCT can add diagnostic value to accurate diagnosis of the case (Selection criteria). Be able to describe common radiographic findings associated with different jaw pathosis including cystic\, neoplastic\, fibro-osseous\, and more. Be able to diagnose common soft tissue radiopacities in 2D and 3D images.
