The meeting, course, required test or lecture is directly related to the employees job; and the employee is notified of the necessity for such attendance by the doctor. Any hours in excess of eight in a day or 40 in a week will be paid at the appropriate overtime rate, based on the weighted average rate of the employees normal rate of pay; the employee will be paid the applicable reduced training and non-productive time rate for time spent at meetings, lectures, required testing and training programs if the employee does not perform any productive work during such attendance. Training and Non-productive Work Time Reimbursement The Practice will reimburse employees for reasonable expenses incurred while on assignments away from the normal work location. All training and non-productive Work time must be approved in advance. Once approved, employees should make travel arrangements and seek reimbursement in accordance with the guidelines in this policy. When approved, the actual cost of travel, meals, lodging and other expenses directly related to accomplishing objectives will be reimbursed by the Practice. Employees are expected to limit expenses to reasonable amounts. Reimbursement of non-standard expenses (including the purchase of alcoholic beverages) incurred on business trips is within the sole discretion of the Practice. Employees should ask the doctor for guidance and assistance on procedures related to training, business travel and non-productive work time arrangements, expense reports, reimbursement for specific expenses or any other business travel issues. Exempt employees will be paid their regular salary for any weeks in which they travel. Nonexempt employees will be paid for travel time in accordance with practice policy and with federal and state wage and hour laws.
