DESCRIPTION:Description Guided Bone Regeneration and Ridge Augmentation have become routine procedures to enhance the functional\, biological and aesthetic outcome of dental implants. This course will provide extensive hands-on laboratory exercises on simulated anatomical models and animal models to prepare the participant with the surgical skills necessary to perform GBR. Special attention will be given to the selection of graft materials and membranes based on sound scientific evidence and decades of clinical experience. SUMMARY:Orofacial Pain Deep Dive: Diagnosing and Treating Orofacial Pain Including Primary Headaches\, Neuropathic and Myofascial Pain\, and TMJ
DESCRIPTION:Are your patients crazy to complain about a pain that is not visible with imaging\, and your intraoral exam is normal? Do you want to learn how to diagnose the invisible pains in the head and neck\, and then decide if you want to treat or refer these patients? This lecture will expand upon the presentation Dr. Hirschinger gave in February 2022. There will be a short refresher of some of the topics discussed but the majority of the presentation will be new material to help you understand more about invisible pain. \n\n\n\nAfter taking the course\, the participant should be able to: \n\n\n\n\nLearn how to diagnose all of the primary headaches including migraine\, cluster\, and tension-type headaches along with treatment options.\n\n\n\nReview all of the branches of the trigeminal nerve that you don’t usually treat including the supratrochlear\, supra and infraorbital\, and auriculotemporal nerves along with the protocol to inject them.\n\n\n\nRecognize the signs and symptoms of occipital neuralgia including the treatment protocol.Understand sympathetically mediated pain\, and learn how a sphenopalatine ganglion block is given without needles.\n\n\n\nIdentify the difference between peripheral pain and systemic pain and how to treat each of them.\n\n\n\nDifferentiate between muscle\, joint\, and odontogenic causes of recent bite changes and when and how to treat it without a handpiece.\n\n\n\nIdentify all of the causes of tooth pain when you have ruled out the teeth.\n\n\n\nLearn why most orofacial pain specialists rarely need to treat TMJ.\n\n\n\nCase review of actual orofacial pain patients.

As a practicing dentist recovering from disabling pain\, I will share my journey to wellness and my findings from extensive research. You will learn the reasons behind musculoskeletal challenges in dentistry and learn practical strategies to manage or prevent them altogether. These include ergonomics in the operatory\, finding effective healthcare\, physical therapy exercises\, and other self-help methods. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: Identify the most common musculoskeletal disorders in dentistry and associate awkward postures. Discuss how prolonged static posture cause muscle imbalances\, leading to pain syndromes in dental professionals. DESCRIPTION:Training on how to prevent workplace harassment is now mandatory for almost all California employers (five [5] or more employees)\, and California Employers Association is here to help with Harassment Prevention Training that meets California’s legal requirement. \n\n\n\nThis course is a 2-hour instructor-led session where employees will engage in discussions on all forms of sexual harassment (verbal\, visual\, and physical). Other types of prohibited harassment\, discrimination\, retaliation\, and abusive conduct will also be covered in an interactive format. Supervisors will learn how to recognize problems and about their responsibility in the prevention of sexual harassment\, discrimination\, retaliation\, and abusive conduct.  \n\n\n\nTopics include reporting\, bystander intervention\, investigating and resolving complaints\, parameters of confidentiality\, and practical tips on how to stay out of trouble and keep your workplace harassment-free. \n\n\n\nIn the past\, only California employers with 50 or more employees were required to provide sexual harassment prevention training—and only to supervisors. Effective 1/1/19\, SB1343 requires all California employers with five (5) or more employees to provide harassment prevention training.

In response to the increase in violent incidents\, California passed legislation that requires employers\, (including dental and specialty practices)\, to adopt a workplace violence prevention plan. \n\n\n\nHarbor Dental Society is here to deliver all valued members a timely ‘live’ CE Webinar to comply with this new California law to help educate you and your dental team with a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan following best practices for the dental practice. \n\n\n\nOn July 1\, 2024\, dental and specialty practices in California must implement a written workplace violence prevention plan. The plan must include specific criteria such as response procedures to specified threats (e.g. shelter in place or evacuation)\, trainings\, annual updates\, etc.
