DESCRIPTION:Description SynopsisRemovable partial dentures and complete dentures are still an option for patients who may have limited resources\, or there is no better way to aid the patient. This course will review basic information on RPDs\, look at each component of the appliance and their function. We will look at how to use implants to stabilize the RPD and make the prosthesis clasp free. There is often confusion on the need for a separate impression for the distal extension case. This is not necessary\, and we will review how to do a single impression for the distal extension RPD. We will look at new materials on the market\, how effective are they\, how do they hold up with time\, and how are they constructed. We will review digital imaging for dental implants and the fabrication and printing of surgical guides. The placement of immediate dentures can often be challenging\, Dr. Hansen has over thirty years of experience in both the surgery and the placement of conventional immediate dentures.ObjectivesWe will look at how to predictably fabricate and place the immediate denture. Physical cards are no longer issued. \n\n\n\nAll this for the price of $90; $34 of it (paid by you directly) for the online course and the other $56 (paid to SDDS) for the skills portion – 3 units of CE included.

DESCRIPTION:Beginning with a brief lecture by Dr. Wayne Nakamura\, participants will learn the history\, evolution and types of athletic mouthguards currently available today. This class will provide a good understanding on the differences and advantages of custom laminated pressure-formed mouthguards\, and why the Academy for Sports Dentistry recommends their use over other types of mouthguards. \n\n\n\nFollowing Dr. Nakamura’s presentation\, several Academy for Sports Dentistry members\, led by Dr. Nakamura\, will assist the participants in the fabrication of a custom pressure laminated mouthguard and demonstrate how easily this mouthguard can be made using a provided model and pressure forming machine. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives: \n\n\n\nDescribe the advantages of pressure-formed laminated mouthguards over other types of mouthguards; List design techniques to offer maximum mouthguard protection with ideal athlete comfort; Demonstrate the proper steps for a properly fitted mouthguard
